01 — About the collective

Rooted in Somalia, worn worldwide

Our manifesto

Haany — honeyed, sweet work. Bano — the open plain where women gather to weave. Together, HaanyBano means sweet labour made in community.

Founded in 2016 by weaver Hodan “Haany” Yusuf and designer Bano Warsame, we began with two looms under a corrugated roof in Hamarweyne. Today we run three ateliers, a natural dye garden, a clay house and a digital archive of 800+ Somali patterns, proverbs and songs. Every piece carries the name of its maker, its dye recipe and the story that inspired it.

06 — FAQ

Questions, answered

Shipping, custom orders, wholesale and care. Still curious? Write to our atelier.

Folded textiles
Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. DHL carbon-offset from Mogadishu & Nairobi hubs. 5–9 days to EU/US, tracked and plastic-free. Shipping is free over $150.

Are your dyes really natural?

100%. Indigo, henna, turmeric, madder, pomegranate, iron + lime. We publish every recipe with mordant ratios in our open library.

Can I commission a bridal set or interior piece?

Absolutely. 3–5 weeks for custom dirac, garbasaar or 2m wall hanging. You choose colors, proverb border and maker. Start via the contact form.

Do you work with hotels & brands?

We furnish boutique hotels, galleries and slow-fashion labels. MOQ 20 pieces, white-label never — maker names always stay on the label.

How do I care for handwoven wool?

Cold hand wash with mild soap, dry in shade, never wring. Our pieces soften with age — like stories.
